wed preps update Saturday, November 06, 2004 mood:
i haven't posted a wed preps update for quite some time now, and doing so will probably put everything in perspective for me. so with 5 months to go, here's a status of what we've done so far: church (St. James the Great Parish, Ayala Alabang) downpayment done. the seminars will still be in jan 2005 so i'm not worrying about this yet. oh! i'm sooooo happy because today, i already got my baptismal certificate, with annotation for marriage purposes. huwahoooo! this has been troubling me for quite some time now because as far as we knew, the church where i was baptized (in marinduque) no longer exists. see, the church was inside the mining community where my dad used to work. when the mine closed several years back, we assumed that the church closed down as well. as it turns out, we found out from a family friend that it is still there! and to make things even better, this family friend went to marinduque last week, and she did us a favor by getting my baptismal certificate. can you imagine if i had to go back there?! whew! reception (The Palms Country Club, Filinvest) reservation fee done. i haven't done anything at all after the payment. i'm not even sure if i should already be making some sort of arrangements with our AE. i haven't even called her since then. should i start panicking? i think i should put that down as an urgent to-do. gotta make calculations since i won't be availing of the bridal cake and the floral arrangements of the palms. maybe then i could squeeze in the seat accents and the rental of the lcd and projector. florist (Mother Butler of St. James / First Floral Designs) for the church, downpayment already done with mother butler of st. james. also made arrangements to have calla lillies as our flowers as long as the delivery that comes in is of good quality. for the entourage and reception, downpayment already done. we're scheduled to have our mock setup in feb 2005. i'm having different colored calla lillies for the entire entourage (all bouquets) and peonies for the bridal bouquet. the reception flower arrangements will be all calla lillies as well. wowoweeee! we're also planning to include linen swags for the ceiling and a floral arrangement for the stairs leading to the ballroom. designer, bridal & entourage gowns (Merlene Marcelo) downpayment done. i was supposed to set a meeting with merl this weekend so she can transform the hodgepodge of ideas that i have into my dream wedding gown. the thing is, she's out of the country and will be back next week yet. with 5 months to go, do i need to panic already? i have no design yet, nor have any measurements been taken yet. we passed by schmuck's house earlier and had a chat with my 4 sisters-in-law-to-be. it was so cute cause we were all giggling as we were discussing possible designs for our gowns. you know how girls are when they get together and discuss girlie stuff! anyway, i will schedule my meeting with merl next weekend, and another one with my entourage on the 21st. photog/videog (John Mateos Ong) downpayment done. will schedule our prenups sometime in feb. am still thinking of where to have it though. wedding cake (Alex Franco) booked. i've met with alex last september and he already has the design that i'd like. our florist will take care of supplying the 12 dozen calla lillies that alex intends to use for our cake. wedding officiant (Fr. Paul) confirmed. this is my father-in-law-to-be's cousin so we're ok here. bridal car (Studebaker) a freebie! this is my father-in-law-to-be's highschool friend naman, and he has already confirmed our use of the car. in fact, tito charlie will be the one to personally drive me to church. cool! souvenirs c/o my generous parents-in-law-to be! schmuck's mom will take care of this, and she knows someone who will be the supplier of the vanda orchids. entertainment remember the band that played in jr & angel's wedding? where the vocalist (his name is dong) is one of my trainees at work? well, we had an office party last friday and i made him sing. wow. this guy is really good! anyway, i've already been talking to him about performing in our wedding. i had initially planned on getting them to play during the reception, then getting maybe leggiero strings for the church. then i discovered that dong's band can actually perform at the church as well! his keyboard player will play the organ, then his guitarist will play the violin. cool! i still don't have the cost though, but i'm hoping he can work within our budget. my fingers are crossed on that one! so far, i think that's it. anything i should already have prepared, at this point in time? let me know please! i'm going on a per month preps now, and our focus this month are the gown fittings and the invitations. i'm starting to feel a little bit of pressure... |
